In 2022, there was a noticeable difference in what is considered an acceptable sustainability premium, depending on income level. Globally, consumers earning less than 60,000 euros a year said they would be willing to pay roughly 22 percent more on average for sustainable alternatives to regular products and services. In contrast, the average high-income consumer, earning 150,000 euros or more annually, was willing to pay a premium of nearly 40 percent on sustainable alternatives.
